Corona General Plan Technical Update

The City Park Revitalization Project, identified as MARD2026-0002, involves the redevelopment of the approximately 19.6-acre Corona City Park in California. The project focuses on the review and implementation of alterations to the park, which is recognized as a historic district on the City of Corona Register of Historic Resources. Key improvements include the construction of a new community center, aquatic center, splash pad, and a large open-air event area known as the Community Canvas. Additional deliverables include new landscaping, pedestrian pathways, parking lots, playgrounds, fitness and sports courts, and updated supporting infrastructure. The project emphasizes the preservation of four historic resources and the strategic relocation and replacement of existing trees. Environmental compliance was managed through an Addendum to the certified 2020-2040 General Plan Environmental Impact Report pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15164, which determined that the improvements would not result in new significant environmental impacts. The project was approved in July 2026, with official Notices of Determination filed between July 27 and August 5, 2026, certifying adherence to the Public Resources Code and the adoption of necessary mitigation measures and monitoring plans.
