Emergency Exit Pathway Installation

The California Department of Parks and Recreation is initiating the Emergency Exit Pathway Installation project at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento. The primary objective of this project is to upgrade an existing emergency fire exit egress to ensure full compliance with current fire and accessibility codes, specifically meeting ADA standards. This effort is categorized as a forecast project and has been granted a CEQA notice of exemption under Class 1 and 2. The scope of work involves the removal of twelve 2-foot by 2-foot concrete pads and soil excavation up to 6 inches deep. The contractor will install approximately 90 feet of 4-inch by 6-inch redwood lumber secured with 5/8-inch rebar pins. To complete the pathway, decomposed granite will be installed over a compacted Class A road base. The project is managed by the Associate Park and Recreation Specialist, Ileana Maestas.
