AI Contract Overview

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District issued a sole source justification on October 11, 2018, for a firm-fixed-price contract to perform emergency repairs on the SV Georgia. The vessel required urgent attention due to engine room flooding caused by corroded flanges and raw water intake pipes. Under solicitation W912HN18Q5027 and NAICS code 336611, the contract was awarded to Thunderbolt Marine for an estimated total value of 18,535.00 dollars. The procurement was justified under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) because the vessel could not be safely transported by road or floated to another location, establishing the current repair facility as the only viable source for the necessary work. The action was managed by the Department of Defense through the W074 Endist Savannah office, with Bruce A. Helms serving as the Contracting Officer and Amy Collins as the Contract Specialist.
