Entrada Way Culvert Slip-out Bank Stabilization Project

The Entrada Way Culvert Slip-out Bank Stabilization Project is a biotechnical infrastructure effort led by the San Mateo County Department of Public Works to repair progressive bank failure along the left bank of La Honda Creek. The project scope includes the removal of boulders from a 2017 emergency action and the construction of an engineered log cribwall and vegetated soil lifts to stabilize the bank. Key technical deliverables involve extending the existing culvert headwall by approximately 22 linear feet, realigning the creek thalweg to its original position, installing a new HDPE pipe for stormwater drainage, and performing site revegetation. These measures include strict concrete management protocols to protect the wetted channel, the relocation of aquatic wildlife prior to dewatering, and adherence to ADA standards for any impacted Caltrans facilities. Coordination with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Caltrans is required for permits related to lake and streambed alterations, transportation encroachments, and the maintenance of pedestrian and bicycle access during construction.
