Four Hardwood Timber Sales

The County of Simcoe is soliciting bids for the sale and harvest of FSC certified hardwood timber across four distinct tracts: Sturgeon River (41.3 ha), Wildman North (40.5 ha), Wildman South (7.0 ha), and Slessor (19.9 ha). The scope of work involves the felling and removal of marked saw timber and fuelwood, including hazardous trees marked with an X. For the Slessor and Wildman North tracts, the operating period is established from October 14, 2026, to March 14, 2027. All timber is sold as FSC 100 percent, and the mixing of certified and non-certified timber is strictly prohibited. Bidders must submit their total bid price by September 30, 2026, via email, the online portal, mail, or in-person delivery. Successful bidders are required to provide a bid deposit equal to 10 percent of the total bid price within ten business days of the award, with the remaining balance paid in full before cutting begins. Mandatory requirements for commencement of work include a current WSIB clearance certificate, WHIMIS certification for all workers, first aid certification, and competency-based training for mechanical operators. Insurance requirements are stringent, requiring 5 million dollars in general liability and 2 million dollars in third-party auto liability. The County reserves the right to disqualify bidders based on unsatisfactory historical performance or health and safety violations and does not bind itself to accept the highest bid.
