Freelance Photographers

Clemson University is soliciting bids for freelance photography services to be provided on an as-needed basis, targeting photographers not awarded under an original contract. New suppliers may be added only twice annually, in January and June, contingent upon meeting the bid requirements through Clemson’s online solicitation process. The contract spans up to five years, with a fixed-price pay structure of $200 per shooting hour and automatic renewals. Photographers must deliver professional images, including event photos and student headshots, with basic editing such as color and exposure correction permitted, but excluding heavy retouching or Photoshop manipulation. Delivered images must be high-resolution JPGs uploaded to Clemson’s cloud storage, with metadata appropriately embedded. Expectations also include professional conduct, use of suitable professional equipment, and timely delivery—typically within 48 hours after assignment completion. The contract award is divided among selected photographers, with firms Eckenroth Photography and Jessica Shelton Photography LLC awarded for a combined maximum contract value not exceeding $500,000 over five years, and The Pirate Photographer Patrick Wright initially awarded for a shorter term with possible extension to October 2028. The solicitation is managed under South Carolina state procurement rules and Clemson University’s standardized terms of purchase and bidding conditions, which include certifications related to debarment, compliance with drug-free workplace laws, and data confidentiality measures consistent with FERPA regulations. The contract includes requirements for tax withholding compliance for nonresidents and mandates the use of EPA-designated recovered materials where feasible. Inspection and acceptance of services occur at the designated performance site, with Clemson retaining the right to reject nonconforming work. Proposal submissions must be electronic, adhere to specified formatting guidelines, and include prior samples of photographic work. Post-award administration is centralized through Clemson’s Procurement and Business Services office, with payment and supplier inquiries directed accordingly.
