The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to issue a contract modification to the existing contract N00024-05-C-2224 with BAE Systems - Norfolk Ship Repair to increase efforts for the Post Shakedown Availability (PSA) work on the LPD 17 amphibious transport dock ship, SAN ANTONIO. This modification aims to address Government-responsible deficiencies, install approved engineering changes that were not included during the initial construction phase, and perform new work identified after ship delivery but prior to PSA. BAE Systems - Norfolk Ship Repair is the sole source for this work due to their prior involvement and capability under the current contract. This contract change reflects an increase in the required level of effort to ensure that all necessary corrections and enhancements are completed as part of the PSA, vital for the operational readiness and performance of LPD 17. The notification primarily serves to identify subcontracting opportunities, although the modification will be issued only to BAE NSR. The work is critical to maintaining the ship's capabilities by resolving outstanding issues and integrating design updates post-construction.
