Solicitation # 030ADV27R0004
The Library of Congress is soliciting proposals for a Firm-Fixed-Price pilot project to evaluate the feasibility of using novel ultra-high density optical data storage for the long-term preservation of its digital collections. The primary objective is to identify a scalable, immutable, and durable storage medium that can reduce maintenance and migration cycles compared to traditional methods. Phase 1 focuses on technical understanding and corporate experience, while Phase 2 evaluates the detailed technical approach and price. Key requirements include ensuring the storage media maintains integrity for at least 50 years at temperatures at or below 35 degrees Celsius and protecting the media against physical damage. Proposals are due by October 27, 2026, and must adhere to strict formatting and page limits across multiple volumes.
