This is a Request for Information issued by the Department of Defense for market research purposes related to mobile firing range maintenance. It is not a solicitation for proposals, nor does it obligate the government to award a contract or issue a future solicitation. The response deadline is July 10, 2026, and all submissions are voluntary with no reimbursement provided for costs incurred. The information gathered will help the government assess industry capabilities, refine requirements, and determine appropriate acquisition strategies, including potential small business set-asides, though no set-aside is currently planned. The primary focus is on identifying qualified vendors capable of performing maintenance, cleaning, and hazardous waste handling for a mobile firing range operated by the 57RQS, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. This includes managing frangible dust, unburnt propellant residue, and the safe transfer of hazardous materials. All submitted data may be used for any lawful government purpose, and responding to this RFI does not guarantee eligibility for any future procurement. The point of contact is Jason Haro with secondary support from Jessica De Benedet, and the place of performance is Aviano, Italy, though the contracting office is located in APO, AE. Any future solicitation will be posted separately on SAM.gov.

This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued solely for market research, planning, and information-gathering.

This RFI does NOT constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quotation (RFQ), Invitation for Bid (IFB), or a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or award a contract.

The Government will not reimburse respondents for any costs incurred in the preparation or submission of responses to this RFI. Responses will not be returned. All information submitted is voluntary.

The purpose of this RFI is to identify qualified and capable sources, assess industry capabilities, refine requirements, and determine the appropriate acquisition strategy (including potential set-aside opportunities for small businesses)

DISCLAIMERS

  1. This RFI is for planning purposes only and does not obligate the Government in any way.
  2. The Government is not seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals.
  3. Responding to this RFI is not a prerequisite for participation in any future solicitation.
  4. The Government reserves the right to use information provided for any lawful Government purpose.
  5. No solicitation document currently exists. Any future solicitation, if issued, will be posted separately on SAM.gov (https://sam.gov).

The 57RQS operates a mobile firing range that requires ongoing maintenance to ensure safe, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation. Routine use of the range generates frangible dust and unburnt propellant residue that must be properly managed and removed. Continued safe operation also depends on the proper functioning of key range systems and the safe handling, collection, and transfer of potentially hazardous waste.

The Government seeks to identify qualified vendors capable of performing all necessary maintenance, cleaning, and waste-handling tasks in full compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
