AI Contract Overview

The contract requires the contractor to supply materials for replacing the Mono Lake ADA boardwalk trail, with construction using fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials specifically manufactured with continuous ECR glass fiber and vinyl ester resin. All structural components will incorporate a non-woven polyester veil during fabrication. Due to environmental considerations such as scenic corridor restrictions, high alkaline conditions, and UV exposure, the FRP materials must be coated with a two-part fluoropolymer finish like Vitreflon or an approved equivalent in the specified RAL 080-30-26 Smoked Oak color. The boardwalk dimensions are defined as 740 linear feet long and 6 feet wide, with decking composed of 38mm mini-mesh anti-slip panels measuring 4 feet by 6 feet by 1.5 inches thick. A bull rail edging will be attached flush to the decking edges to maintain the 6-foot width. All hardware and brackets connecting the boardwalk components to the concrete Diamond Pier foundations, provided by the Parks, must be stainless steel, and the full set of materials should allow for complete construction. Due to the sensitive wetland location, spans between foundations are limited to 20 feet and must be engineered to withstand a 100 psi live load. The solicitation is issued by the California Department of Parks & Recreation, with submissions due by May 8, 2026, and performance location in Alameda, California. Ryan Marino serves as the primary contact for inquiries regarding the solicitation.
