NBPL-215 (PNS) RENOVATE TRAINING FACILITY

1. WORK LOCATION: BASE: NBPL BUILDING: 215 ROOM/AREA OF THE BUILDING: Entire Building INTERIOR/EXTERIOR: Interior and Exterior ADDITIONAL LOCATION DETAILS: 2. LOCATION POC INFO LOCATION POC’s COMMAND: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard – Detachment San Diego (PNS-DETSD) 3. ISSUE: What is the general issue and why is this project being undertaken? What command/mission requirement is it meeting? PNS-DETSD will soon be the tenant of NBPL’s B215 to be used as our training building. Occupying B215 is a result of having to vacate our current training space in B544. CSS-11 has notified PNS-DETSD that we must vacate our B544 space by August 2025 to make room for their increased training requirements. 4. IMPACT: What is the impact to the command/mission if not completed? Include mission oriented deadlines (RIMPAC begin X dates, new submarine homeporting X dates) B215 will need to be renovated to support our training department requirements. B215 renovation must occur in order for our training department to have an area to perform submarine repair training as we are being forced to vacate our current training area in B544. 5. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The following construction work will be required: • HVAC system will need to be replaced: new air handling units with all new ducting run to each room on both floors with proper dropdown ceiling, upgrade HVAC controls and thermostats • Walls will need to be demolished with new walls constructed in certain locations to create new classrooms (please refer to attached drawings – walls that require removal are highlighted in red and new walls that will need to be constructed are in green) • Fresh interior paint for all rooms ...
