The Pacific Airshow Huntington Beach Project is a long-term event authorization spanning from 2024 through 2034, enabling an annual spectacle-scale airshow held in Huntington Beach, California, typically over three to five days, often Friday through Sunday or Wednesday through Sunday, with preliminary aircraft flyovers beginning as early as Monday of the event week. The event features civilian and military aircraft flybys, aerial acrobatics, air racing, helicopter and aircraft landing displays, drone and electric vehicle demonstrations, aerial competitions, drone light shows, and emerging aviation and mobility technology exhibits, complemented by live music, entertainment, and visitor services. The performance area is defined over the Pacific Ocean within a 3,000 by 12,000-foot zone marked by buoys, extending seaward from the shoreline between 7th Street and Beach Boulevard, with the show center anchored along the Huntington Beach Pier. A temporary flight restriction airspace of five nautical miles in radius, up to 15,000 feet MSL, is enforced during operations, with aircraft originating from Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos and John Wayne Airport. The project operates under a Specific Event Permit issued by the City of Huntington Beach and is subject to compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act, the Coastal Act, and state sovereign land leases, including Lease No. PRC 6616.1, which imposes restrictions on public access interference and prohibits commercial use for compensation that could trigger lease default. Mitigation, monitoring, and reporting obligations are formalized through a Draft Mitigation, Monitoring, and Reporting Program, requiring adherence to environmental standards for noise, air quality, biological resources, and drone operations, with compliance verified through calibrated equipment meeting IEC 60942:2017, ANSI S1.40-2006, ISO/IEC 17025:2017, and ISO 9001:2015 specifications. Aircraft must maintain a minimum altitude of 1,000 feet AGL, and drone operations are governed by FAA B4UFly guidelines and California Department of Fish and Wildlife Special Use Permits. Security protocols mandate coordination with the Huntington Beach Police Department, mandatory bag screenings, and the preservation of emergency access lanes.
