The Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is advancing the implementation of a Pharmacy Benefit Management Program specifically designed to support Residential Reentry Centers (RRCs) and eligible beneficiaries. This initiative aims to establish a comprehensive Pharmacy Benefit Management service that includes both a retail pharmacy network and mail order pharmacy options. The focus is on ensuring the network delivers efficiency, accuracy, accessibility, and cost-effectiveness to meet the prescription needs of approximately 12,300 inmates currently in RRCs and home confinement across the continental United States. A key aspect of this program is active collaboration with RRC staff to facilitate seamless implementation and management of pharmacy services. To facilitate industry engagement, the BOP scheduled an Industry Day on July 25, 2017, in Washington, D.C., providing an opportunity for potential contractors to discuss technical and service aspects, including IT capabilities, mail order pharmacy objectives, eligibility processing, auditing, specialty pharmacy networks, and contractual issues. Attendance was by reservation only, with a limit of four representatives per company, and all inquiries and requests were to be submitted in writing ahead of the event. The meeting served as a platform to improve communications and gather input but did not constitute a solicitation or guarantee of future contract awards. The BOP emphasized that all associated costs were the responsibility of the attendees, and information shared would remain internal. Responses to this event would not be returned and participation or lack thereof would not affect potential future solicitations.
