The Department of National Defence has an immediate requirement for three (3) photographic printers capable of producing high quality photographic prints, including start-up kit of ink and paper. The intent is then to replace up to quantity twelve (12) photographic printers on “as and when requested” basis the next four (4) additional years. The photographic printer of choice must be delivered and installed as a turnkey system. Therefore, the photographic printer of choice must meet the following minimum specification requirements: a. Output (products): must be capable of producing high quality photographic prints at a resolution of at least 720x720dpi when set to high resolution option; b. Output (speed): must have a minimum processing speed of 300 (4" x 6") prints per hour when using high speed option at 720 dpi; c. Power: must be configured to run on 110-120v AC as the systems that are targeted for replacement are presently running on 110-120v AC; d. Networking: must be able to connect to more than one computer at a time (able to manage jobs in a queue) via interface with a Local Area Network (LAN) using Ethernet card, similar connection Wi-Fi that will provide a digital image input capability from various Macintosh and PC workstations configured with the latest versions of their operating systems; e. Color Management: must be capable of accepting third party colour management software which could be assigned as the primary colour management software of the digital photographic printer and/or the printer software recognizes embedded International Colour Consortium (ICC) profiles and allows user to assign a profile (including camera and scanner profiles); f. Photo Paper Magazine or Spindle Unit: must be capable of accommodating rolls of paper of several sizes from 4in to 12in. Systems that are equipped to print using only sheets of paper, are not acceptable as it increases the cost of consumables over the limit desired cost per print as per following sub-para “J”; g. Photo Paper: must be able to print on different finishes of photo paper, including glossy, matt, lustre, etc; h. Print handling: must be able to cut and stack finished prints; i. Back printing: must be equipped with a back printer unit to annotate the back of each print with customizable information; j. Cost Per Print: must be able to print at a maximum cost per print of $0.50 each or less for 4x6 colour print size; and k. Foot Print: must be equal or smaller than 9-12 sq/feet in order to fit the existing limited space of the sections selected for replacement.
