Pier Repair and Modification (Lake Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. PLA-61632-R2)

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number PLA-61632-R2 with Buffalo Wahoo, LLC for the repair and modification of a private pier located at 1280 West Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, California. Pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code, the project involves expanding the steel subframe to support a 6-foot-wide approach walk and reconfiguring the pier head to 45 feet in length by 10 feet in width. This modification requires the removal of three existing piles on the southern side and the installation of five new 10.75-inch diameter piles, resulting in 3.15 square feet of lakebed disturbance. Additionally, the project includes the removal of a fixed catwalk and two 6,000 lb. boat lifts, which will be replaced by one 12,000 lb. boat lift and an adjustable 30-foot catwalk and ramp. The new boat lift will be supported by two 6 by 9 inch steel beams, causing an additional 0.75 square feet of lakebed disturbance. The project is categorized as exempt under Class 2, CCR Title 14, section 15302, as it involves the reconstruction of an existing structure on the same site with substantially the same purpose and capacity. Administration of the agreement is managed by Patrick Moeszinger, Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist with the CDFW.
