ATFP Perimeter Fence Recommendations (least costly to most expensive) - Contact fence manufacturer for information on replacement parts, material options, coatings. Shops - Selective replacement or reinforcement of post with repair sleeves/collars that have section loss. Shops - Secure separated bottom rail ends to posts with new fasteners or fabricated bracket connections. CAT 3 / 4 – Prepare SOW for replacement of existing fencing with aluminum. CAT 1 / 2 – Prepare design for selective fence and concrete footer replacement. Raise the top of concrete footer to an elevation above high tides. This option would require regrading of surround lands and drainage improvements. Easterly Fence Line - Observations: The fence posts and bottom rail separation occurred from the water’s edge to approximately 500 linear feet in the west. Majority of the fencing is powdering coated steel. The portions of fencing at the water’s edge is aluminum. Several bottom rail connections to post have been previously repaired/replaced over time with fabricated angle brackets. The most prevalent issues: o Bottom rails being disconnected at post. o Corrosion and section loss of post wall thickness at base of post near grade. o Several post have significant or full section loss. Westerly Fence Line - Observations: The fence posts and bottom rail separation occurred across from Building 274 and the Building 171 water reservoir. The fence posts and bottom rails at the lower elevations are within the tidal area exhibited significate corrosion. The most prevalent issues: o Bottom rails being disconnected at the post. o Corrosion and section loss of post wall thickness at base of post near grade. o Several post have significant or full section loss.
