UM - B1353 - Replace Centrifuges for Fort Kamehameha WWTP

The Department of the Navy, through Navfac Hawaii, is forecasting a project to replace a failing centrifuge at the Fort Kamehameha Wastewater Treatment Plant. The current equipment is experiencing performance issues caused by excessive struvite formation. The proposed scope of work involves the installation of one screw press to handle sludge dewatering, while one existing centrifuge will be retained to serve as a backup system. While the immediate contract focuses on the installation of the screw press, the project documentation notes a long-term requirement to replace the structurally failing dewatering building and install a second screw press. These future structural improvements and additional equipment installations are not included in the current cost estimates for this specific project phase.
