Solicitation # RFP-2026-0014
The Pittsburgh Public School District is soliciting a K-5 literacy universal screening, progress monitoring, reporting, and instructional decision-support system. The objective is to implement a system that identifies student literacy needs across domains such as phonics, decoding, and reading comprehension, providing districtwide visibility and actionable data for teachers. Iowa Industry to Classroom Academy CTE Teacher Mentoring Grant Program
Solicitation # 685608
The Iowa Industry to Classroom Academy is a pilot mentoring program launched by the Iowa Department of Education to recruit and retain career and technical education teachers transitioning directly from industry. The program pairs new or emerging CTE teachers, who possess specialized industry skills but lack formal pedagogical training, with experienced mentors for two years. This collaboration is designed to reduce professional isolation and help mentees progress from an initial CTE Authorization to a full five-year authorization. The initial pilot focuses on Family and Consumer Sciences teachers before expanding to all CTE content areas. The program is built upon four pillars: educator retention, instructional excellence, educator well-being, and continuous reflective practice. Over the two-year cycle spanning 2026 to 2028, mentees must complete six core pedagogy areas, including human relations, CTE teaching methods, and curriculum development. Financial support includes a 1,000 dollar total tuition and fee reimbursement for mentees and a 4,000 dollar total stipend for mentors. Additional reimbursements are available for travel, meals, lodging, and substitute pay. Participants are required to engage in monthly meetings, classroom observations, and a capstone project, while maintaining strict confidentiality regarding program interactions. Mentees' districts serve as fiscal agents to manage grant funds via IowaGrants.

This extension is intended to allow the Westat team to finalize deliverables and complete a final report for the Institute of Education Sciences. The project involves a longitudinal study of nearly 3,000 children with disabilities to evaluate their preschool experiences, transition to kindergarten, and early elementary outcomes. Originally awarded in 2004 by the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services and later moved to the National Center for Special Education Research, the contract focuses on data collection from parents, teachers, and administrators, as well as the subsequent analysis and preparation of that data for public release. CONTRACT EXTENSION NOTICE - NOT AN INVITATION FOR PROPOSAL(INFORMATION PURPOSE ONLY) Description: The Department of Education intends to issue a six-month extension to existing contract # ED-04-CO-0059/0005. The current period of performance ends on March 28, 2011(will be extended until September 27, 2011). The purpose of the extension is to enable members of the Westat team to assist the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) in reviewing and finalizing deliverables in the procurement's scope of work, including a final report. On September 29, 2004, the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) awarded contract ED-04-CO-0059/0005 to Westat of Rockville, Maryland to conduct a longitudinal study to follow a group of children who received preschool special education services as they progressed through the early elementary years. The ultimate goal of this evaluation was to examine children's preschool experiences and outcomes, their transition to kindergarten, and their early elementary school experiences and outcomes. In July 2005, this project was relocated from OSERS to a newly-established center in the Institute of Education Sciences (IES)-the National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER). Contract tasks are related to two general areas: the collection of data from children, parents, school/program administrators, teachers, and service providers and processing, analysis, and preparation of the data for internal use and public release. The researchers followed almost 3,000 children with disabilities as they progressed through preschool and into their early elementary years. Data collection began in fall 2003 and was repeated in winter 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009. Data collected included telephone interviews with parents of preschoolers with disabilities, one-on-one assessments of children participating in this study, and mail surveys with the children's teachers and other service providers, school principals, district administrators, and state education agency administrators. When the project was relocated from OSERS to NCSER, a number of organization review policies were introduced that had not been included in the original project schedule. The six month extension (until September 27, 2011)will allow Westat to finish the final report and thus complete the activities related to the processing, analysis, and preparation of data. This will allow the resulting report to be publicly released in accordance with IES policies. This notice is for informational purposes only. A request for proposal is not available. Interested parties may, however, request further information no later than November 29, 2010 by email to Contract Specialist Joseph Gibbs at Joseph.Gibbs@ed.gov.
