AI Contract Overview

The contract outlines the development and implementation of the DEERS/Medical Interface Operational Description (IOD) for the Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC), intended to define how forthcoming TRICARE contractors will utilize the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) to access enrollment, eligibility, and other critical data to meet TRICARE operational requirements. This updated IOD, dated December 15, 2001, reflects a shift away from the existing ADP Manual chapter "Eligibility Verification," which currently supports the ADP requirements of TRICARE-Nex (T-Nex). Instead, the IOD and its related documents will serve as the exclusive basis for proposal submissions, with detailed data element documentation provided only after contract award. The Defense Health Agency is seeking stakeholder feedback on this proposed procedural change and the IOD’s contents, with the intention of finalizing the functional transition from the manual chapter to the IOD framework. This solicitation, posted in February 2002 under reference number 02-2009 by the Department of Defense’s Defense Health Agency office in Aurora, Colorado, invites contractor comments by mid-March 2002 regarding the practicality and completeness of relying solely on the IOD for proposal development. Key documentation is accessible via the TRICARE T-NEX website, emphasizing the Defense Health Agency’s goal to streamline and modernize how contractor access to DEERS data is governed, ensuring that future TRICARE health care and administrative service contracts are aligned with evolving technological and operational requirements.

General Info

Full Description

The DEERS/Medical Interface Operational Description (IOD) for MCSC, dated 12/15/01, is the future design that describes how the next generation of TRICARE contractors will access and use DEERS for enrollment, eligibility and other vital information to maintain the TRICARE operational requirements of the contracts. TMA is considering eliminating any version of the current ADP Manual chapter "Eligibility Verification" from the TRICARE Systems Manual, which is designed to support the ADP requirements of T-Nex. Instead, the IOD and any IOD-referenced documents would be the sole source for offerors to base their proposals instead of a chapter with detailed data elements and codes for each DEERS/DOES transaction. Those detail documents would be furnished after award. TMA is inviting your comments on the contents of the IOD and its attachments, and as to the functionality of only using the IOD for constructing proposals. You may find these documents by going to the TRICARE T-NEX website: -- www.tricare.osd.mil/pmo/t-nex -- Click on DEERS to see the documents- DEERS Interface Operational Description MCSC version 1, DEERS Interface Operational Description MCSC-Appendix C, Data Base-Roles version 3, If you have any comments, please respond by close of business March 14, 2002. Respond by using e-mail: contact@example.gov
