The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to award a sole source contract to GfK Kynetec for a two-year subscription to agricultural pesticide usage data through their AgroTrak database covering the years 2011 and 2012, along with historical data from 1998 through 2011 as an option. This contract, managed by the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention’s Office of Pesticide Programs, aims to provide critical pesticide usage information that supports regulatory decisions under FIFRA by offering comprehensive data on pesticide application across crops, including details on acres treated, pesticide types, application methods, and economic factors. The contract includes 20 AgroTrak licenses, specialized percent crop treated data, 75 client service hours for data and programming support, and one day of on-site training. The data obtained will be for internal EPA use only, enabling thorough evaluation of health, environmental, social, and economic impacts of pesticides and their substitutes. The contract duration spans a base year from May 1, 2012, to April 30, 2013, plus an option for an additional year. No competitive solicitation or request for quotes will be issued due to the unique capabilities of GfK Kynetec in providing this specialized data, though other firms that believe they can meet the requirements may submit their capabilities by a specified deadline for governmental consideration. This procurement is intended to ensure the agency has access to robust, detailed pesticide market and usage data critical for regulatory analyses.
