The Department of Defense’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Charleston (SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston) is seeking information on commercial off-the-shelf products and services that support personnel tracking through the use of man-portable or hand-held devices. The requested solutions should ideally leverage existing infrastructure already in use by emergency responders, particularly those in the Emergency Responder community who operate in scenarios such as search and rescue, explosives, and hazardous health conditions. This Request for Information (RFI) aims to gather details to support the Department of Homeland Security’s Preparedness Directorate, specifically its Office of Grants and Training (G&T), which focuses on enhancing the capabilities of state and local jurisdictions to respond effectively to domestic terrorism and other emergencies involving weapons of mass destruction. The RFI supports the SAVER Program, dedicated to assessing and validating emergency responder technologies to facilitate informed decision-making. Respondents are asked to provide a concise product/service description, potential emergency operation applications, compatibility with other emergency technologies, technical specifications, associated costs, user lists, and relevant diagrams or data sheets. All submitted materials will be treated as public information and may be reformatted for SAVER Program publications. The response requires completion of a provided product summary template and submission via electronic media or email, accompanied by printed materials. This RFI is for information gathering only, not a solicitation or contract offer, and will not result in direct awards or payments. Questions should be directed to designated technical and contract points of contact. The deadline for submissions was January 31, 2006.
