AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Army is seeking industry input on Hard Kill Active Protection Systems (APS) through a Request for Information aimed at evaluating the current maturity and development timelines of commercial systems. Vendors are encouraged to demonstrate their capabilities with detailed submissions that go beyond simple affirmations, providing concrete examples and supplemental materials to showcase how their systems meet critical performance benchmarks. The goal is to identify a system that can be competitively selected for a future shoot-off, with the potential for integration across multiple Army combat vehicles, followed by production and fielding. To be considered, systems must satisfy stringent requirements including compact vehicle integration, compliance with the Modular APS Framework architecture, and a viable production cost structure. Submissions must be submitted as unclassified documents via email no later than August 11, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET, with all questions regarding the RFI due by August 4, 2026. Respondents should direct inquiries and materials to Kayla Stewart and Kimberly Nelson, the designated Contract Specialist and Contract Officer, respectively. Large files beyond email capacity may be shared using a DoD SAFE link. This RFI, issued by the Department of Defense under office PANDTA-26-P-0000_037889 and managed from Warren, Michigan, serves solely as an information-gathering tool and does not obligate the government to issue a solicitation or award a contract.

Full Description
Hard Kill Active Protection System: This RFI is intended to help inform the Government on the maturity of industry Hard Kill APSs as well as the timeline it will take to deliver them.
The Army is seeking Hard Kill Active Protection System (APS) vendors to deliver a system to the Government for a competitive shoot off for down selection of the most capable system. The selected system will have the opportunity to move forward for potential integration into multiple Army combat vehicles, taken into production, and fielded. To be successful in this competition, vendors will need their systems to meet and demonstrate against system performance requirements, package into a limited space claim for vehicle integration, and operate within a Modular APS Framework (MAF) compliant architecture while maintaining a system competitive price point in production.
Please refer to the attachment for more information and list of questions.
Responses to this RFI should not simply be a yes/no answer, but rather provide insights and examples as to what your specific capabilities are. If you have supplemental products that you’re able to share with your responses, please attach them with your response. If the files are too large for email, please request a DoD SAFE link for files up to 8GB.
