San Mateo Bank Stabilization (Notification of Lake or Streambed Alteration, No. EPIMS-SMO-57472-R3)

The San Mateo Bank Stabilization project, identified by Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-SMO-57472-R3, is a specialized environmental project executed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife in coordination with Robert Chao. Located at 198 Bridge Road in San Mateo County, California, the work is concentrated along approximately 135 linear feet of the south bank of San Mateo Creek. The primary scope of work involves the removal of unpermitted sackrete revetment and the subsequent construction of a vegetated boulder revetment. Additionally, the project includes the installation of large wood structures designed to prevent bank erosion and enhance aquatic habitats within the creek ecosystem. The project has been granted a categorical exemption under Class 33 of the California Code of Regulations, title 14, section 15333, due to its limited scale and minimal environmental footprint. This exemption is supported by findings that the affected area is under five acres, there are no hazardous materials at the site, and the work will not result in significant adverse impacts on endangered or threatened species or their habitats. Furthermore, the project is deemed to have no significant cumulative impacts when considered alongside past, current, and future developments.
