Sentinel Peak Resources California LLC is proposing to drill one new exploratory oil and gas production well, identified as Well Band 125, on federal mineral lease CAS019372 within the Midway Sunset Oilfield in Kern County, California. The project is located approximately 2.5 miles northwest of Fellows, along Highway 33. The scope of work includes the grading of a 200 by 100 foot well pad, resulting in 0.50 acres of permanent ground disturbance. Because this is an exploratory well, the proposal excludes the installation of flowlines, producing facilities, or other infrastructure. The project is estimated to be completed in ten days, consisting of two days of grading with 10-hour operations, six days of drilling with 24-hour operations, and two days of completion work with 10-hour operations. The project has been evaluated through an Environmental Assessment and a Finding of No Significant Impact, concluding that the action will not significantly affect the human environment. It complies with the 2014 Bakersfield Resource Management Plan, the 2017 Oil and Gas Programmatic Biological Opinion, and various federal laws including the Mineral Leasing Act of 1920 and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976. Key regulatory requirements include adherence to the California Occupational Safety and Health Plan, 43 CFR 3160, and the Clean Air Act's State Implementation Plan for the San Joaquin Valley.
