The Sites Reservoir Project consists of the construction of an off-stream surface water reservoir located in the Antelope Valley within Glenn and Colusa counties to provide water supply for environmental, municipal, industrial, and agricultural needs throughout the State of California. The Project, in part, consists of: geotechnical investigations; construction of two dams, seven saddle dams, and two saddle dikes; development of two recreation areas; road construction and improvements; and construction of pumping facilities and pipelines. The total construction area for the Project is approximately 27,000 acres and the reservoir has been designed to impound up to 1.5 million acre-feet of water. The Bureau of Reclamation has identified the Sites Reservoir Project need as providing off-stream surface water storage north of the Delta in a manner that is consistent with Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act requirements and Reclamation law.
