AI Contract Overview
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is forecasting a cooperative research initiative to advance the clinical translation of immune tolerance strategies in organ transplantation, aiming to eliminate the need for lifelong immunosuppressive drugs by promoting long-term graft survival. This program will establish a multi-center Translational Transplantation Tolerance Cooperative Study Group to develop, refine, and evaluate approaches that induce and sustain immune tolerance to allogeneic transplants using models with strong translational relevance. The initiative will foster collaboration across institutions to accelerate the path from preclinical discoveries to clinical application, ensuring rigorous scientific evaluation and safety assessment of novel tolerance-inducing regimens. Funding will be supported under authorities granted by Sections 301 and 405 of the Public Health Service Act and governed by applicable federal regulations. The opportunity is being issued by the Department of Health and Human Services through the National Institutes of Health, with technical inquiries directed to the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Transplantation at tttcsgu19@mail.nih.gov. The forecast was made public on June 24, 2026, and future applicants are expected to respond to a formal solicitation in accordance with the stated statutory and regulatory frameworks. While specific funding levels and application deadlines are not yet available, interested parties are encouraged to monitor the official grants.gov portal for upcoming notices to prepare responsive proposals aligned with the program's translational and cooperative objectives.

Full Description
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) seeks to advance its mission through the support of the Translational Transplantation Tolerance Cooperative Study Group (TTTCSG) program. The overarching goal of this program is to facilitate clinical translation of safe and effective transplant tolerance regimens that achieve long-term graft survival without the need for life-long administration of immunosuppressive drugs. This program will enable establishment of a multi-center, cooperative program dedicated to developing, optimizing, and evaluating approaches to induce and maintain immune tolerance to allogeneic transplants, which will be tested in translationally relevant models. Grant authorities that allow NIAID to forecast this opportunity are as follows: Sections 301 and 405 of the Public Health Service Act as amended (42 USC 241 and 284) and under Federal Regulations 42 CFR Part 52 and 2 CFR Part 200.
