Project to repair and reinforce the existing Waiawa Stream Bridge connection Waihona Street to the Potable Water fresh water pumping station in Pearl City, Oahu. The existing bridge is severely deteriorating and is in need of repairs and upgrades to ensure safe travel to and from the pump station. Per a bridge study conducted in 2019, the repair project shall focus on but is not limited to three main areas of interest, structural repair, safety improvements, and maintenance. Structural Repairs: - Repair deteriorated concrete in the deck underside - Replace existing expansion joints - Replace corroded bearings at the abutments - Repair deteriorated abutments Safety Improvements: - Install guardrails above structure and on both approaches. Maintenance: - Clean and restore original steel beams - Remove any debris that has been built up on the abutment(s). In addition, the repair project shall include additional requirements for seismic load and increased truck load. Project preference is Design-Bid-Build. Project will require planning and EV documentation, and generation of design docs.
