Several reports of flooded areas have been noted at multiple locations at NSA Souda Bay. According to the latest assessment report, certain drainage pipes are nearing their capacity to manage storm water. Consequently, the capacities of storm water systems, watercourses, and other drainage infrastructures may be exceeded on occasions. Effected areas throughout the base are B50, B93, B66, B97 and B43.Problem Description: B93 Flight-line elevation is higher than that of the pavement’s, north of the building. At the building’s main entrance there is no storm water pipes to help the area drain properly so storm water is cumulated creating ponds. Mission Impact: During storm events the water height might reach 15cm(6inch) making it difficult to enter the building without being wet. Proposed Solution: Install storm water drain pipes and divert water safely away from the building entrance. B66 Southeast corner Water is cumulated after storm events and is pooled next to the flight line B66 entrance door Water is cumulated outside the entrance door after rain events.
