Vallejo Ferry Terminal Reconfiguration Project

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has entered into Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-SOL-57090-R3 with the San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority for the Vallejo Ferry Terminal Reconfiguration Project. This initiative involves the removal and replacement of an existing gangway, passenger float, and associated piles to extend the terminal 200 feet further into the Napa River. The primary objective of this reconfiguration is to significantly reduce the frequency of required maintenance dredging from every four years to every 20 years, ensuring safer and more efficient ferry operations. Construction is scheduled to take place over one season, with in-water work specifically restricted to the window between August 1 and November 30, although geotechnical borings may occur outside this timeframe. To ensure uninterrupted ferry service during the construction process, a temporary passenger float will be utilized in the same manner as previous dredging maintenance activities. The project is managed by Chad Mason of the Water Emergency Transportation Authority and overseen by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
