Wireless Communications Tower Upgrades– Harbor Development Permit No. 26-031

The Port of Long Beach is overseeing wireless communications tower upgrades for Verizon Wireless under Harbor Development Permit No. 26-031, located at 150 Pier D Avenue in Long Beach, California. This project involves comprehensive modifications to both tower-mounted and ground-based equipment. Tower installations include up to three sector mounts, one standoff mount, one microwave dish, fifteen antennas, three remote radio units, three over-voltage protection units, two outdoor units, and four cables. Ground-work requirements consist of installing a battery cabinet, power cabinet, generator with tank, emergency stop button, twelve batteries, ILC/ATC cabinet, GPS antenna, H-frame extension, fiber junction box, telco vault, fire knox padlock, LED lamp, and a chain link fence measuring approximately 28 feet by 14 feet with a corresponding rolling gate. The project is classified under NAICS code 237130 and is managed by the Port of Long Beach Environmental Planning Division. It has been granted a Notice of Exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act under CEQA Sections 15301, 15302, and 15303, as it pertains to existing facilities, replacement or reconstruction, and the construction of small structures. All removed equipment must be disposed of in strict accordance with federal, state, and local environmental and regulatory requirements.
