1215 Bordeaux Drive

The City of Sunnyvale has authorized the 1215 Bordeaux Drive project, which involves the demolition of an existing 25,820 square foot one-story office building on a 1.97 acre site to make way for a new residential development. The project consists of an eight-story apartment building totaling 297,406 square feet with a maximum height of 91 feet. This development will provide 265 multi-family residential units, 217 parking spaces, and approximately 25,700 square feet of residential open space. Additionally, the project includes a 0.3-acre privately owned, publicly accessible open space area and a 14,700 square foot neighborhood park. To qualify for concessions and waivers under the State Density Bonus Law, approximately 15 percent of the units are reserved for low- and very low-income residents. The project is governed by a Special Development Permit and is categorized as exempt under CEQA due to its consistency with the 2023 Moffett Park Specific Plan Final Environmental Impact Report. Compliance requirements include achieving at least 120 points in the Build-It-Green Green Point rating system and adhering to State Building Energy Efficiency Standards for heating, cooling, solar, battery storage, water savings, lighting, and building envelopes. Furthermore, the developer must implement a transportation demand management program and execute all feasible mitigation measures required by the Moffett Park Specific Plan. The project is managed by the City of Sunnyvale with primary planning oversight provided by Julia Klein and Wendy Lao.
