THERE ARE MULTIPLE AREAS AT THE TRANSITION WHERE THERE IS APPROXIMATELY A 2-3” CHANGE IN GRADE. AREA NEEDS TO BE MILLED DOWN, NEW ASPHALT SHOULD BE LAID, SEALED AND APPROPRIATE MARKINGS SHOULD BE APPLIED. ALL REPAIRS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH UFC 3-270-01 / UFC 3-270-02 TWO LARGE SPALLS HAVE FORMED AT THE RUNWAY 6 ASPHALT/CONCRETE TRANSITION. AREA IS APPROXIMATELY A 6’x3’ AND ANOTHER IS APPROXIMATELY 9’x10’. BOTH SPALLS SHOULD BE CUT OUT TO THE NEAREST FT IN LENGTH, WIDTH AND DEPTH. CONSULT WITH NAVFAC ENGINEERS ON THE AMOUNT OF DOWELLS THAT SHOULD BE PLACED TO ENSURE SPALLING WILL HOLD. CONTROL JOINTS SHOULD BE ADDED TO REDUCE FURTHER CRACKING/SPALLING. ALL REPAIRS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH UFC 3-270-03 / UFC 03-270-04 IMPACT: The location is not far from centerline and could eventually close the runway or force us to operate at a relocated threshold which we can only do during the day, and the runway would be closed at night. With Runway 6 being our only IFR capable runway I cannot stress the importance of this getting fixed ASAP.
