The Project will construct a new portion of the Bay Trail adjacent to and further out of the high tide line than the existing trail at Oyster Point in South San Francisco. The existing trail becomes flooded by high tides for a portion of the year, and the new pathway will allow continued pedestrian access throughout the year. The existing trail will be closed during construction. Shrubs and other vegetation in the new trail alignment will be removed, while vegetation outside of the trail alignment will be protected and not damaged by construction access. The new 8-foot-wide concrete pathway will be constructed, and an existing connection to the parking lot will be filled and raised to the grade of the new trail. The existing trail will be left in place, with a small portion being replaced in-kind to connect it to the new alignment. Following construction, vegetation will be planted to mitigate for flooding and project impacts.
