AI Contract Overview

The Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care System James A. Haley in Tampa, FL intends to award a sole source contract to EtherFeat, LLC for the procurement of Nimble Storage equipment. Specifically, the contract covers the Nimble CS210 unit with 8TB usable storage capacity, featuring dual controllers and networking capabilities, along with service upgrades and software support for one year. This equipment is classified as medical devices and must meet stringent operational and reliability standards to interface safely with peripheral devices also produced by EtherFeat. The units are factory loaded, configured, and tested to ensure proper functionality, and purchasing components separately from other vendors would increase overall costs and risk the loss of first-year technical support from EtherFeat. The procurement will be conducted under NAICS code 541519, and no competitive solicitation document is being issued. Interested parties were invited to respond by September 15, 2011, after which the government would evaluate whether future acquisitions should be competitively solicited. This approach is justified under FAR 6.302-1, allowing sole source acquisitions when only one responsible source exists, ensuring compatibility, support, and cost-efficiency in maintaining critical healthcare storage infrastructure at the VA facility.
