The Federal Aviation Administration hosted its Annual National Small Business Procurement Opportunities Training Conference and Trade Show from July 31 to August 3, 2005, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida. The event, themed Continuing a Tradition of Success, aimed to provide small businesses with knowledge on contracting with the FAA and other federal agencies. The conference featured over 15 outreach panel sessions and technical workshops, one-on-one counseling, and exhibiting opportunities to help small businesses market their capabilities. Key participants included FAA acquisition representatives from all regions, technical representatives from the Air Traffic Organization and the Office of Information Systems Security, and supporting agencies such as the U.S. Small Business Administration, NASA, and the Department of Defense. While the primary event focused on FAA outreach, other unrelated procurement activities under solicitation number 4087 were identified. These include a request by the City of New Orleans for the procurement of 16 specific drug chemistry and DNA supplies for the NOPD Crime Lab, awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Additionally, a separate small purchase notice was issued by the County of Kauai for two 12-cubic yard hooklift containers for its Department of Public Works. These municipal solicitations require electronic submissions through their respective portals and adherence to local compliance and delivery standards.
