DARPA's Tactical Technology Office is hosting an Industry Day Conference on October 2, 2007, at Booz Allen Hamilton in Arlington, Virginia, to support the Fast Access Spacecraft Testbed (FAST) program. The event aims to provide detailed information about the FAST program, encourage dialogue, answer potential proposers' questions, and facilitate networking for teaming opportunities among participants. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., with the conference running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Attendance is limited to 100 registrants, with a maximum of two representatives per organization, preferably including a technical lead. Participation requires U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status, verified by proof submitted prior to the September 25 deadline. The conference is unclassified and open to the general public, and attendees may also present brief company overviews in an industry-only session. The FAST program seeks to develop an innovative spacecraft platform that combines a High Power Generation Subsystem (HPGS) using solar concentrators and high-flux solar cells with electric propulsion to create a lightweight, high-mobility spacecraft capable of persistent maneuverability in orbit. This approach aims to revolutionize spacecraft mission design by enabling affordable launches to low earth orbit with self-transfer to geostationary orbit, supporting on-orbit servicing, space situational awareness, and high-power payloads such as communications or radar. The program is structured into two phases: Phase 1 involves prototype design and simulation for ground testing, while Phase 2 includes prototype fabrication, assembly, and end-to-end testing. Multiple awards are expected for Phase 1 among competing contractors. Presenters wishing to share material at the conference must submit their presentations by September 25, with strict time and slide limits enforced.

Full Description

INDUSTRY DAY CONFERENCE: DARPA/TTO will host an Industry Day Conference in support of the Fast Access Spacecraft Testbed (FAST) program (BAA 07-65) on October 2, 2007 at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., 3811 Fairfax Drive, Suite 600, Arlington, Virginia, 22203 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the conference will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. The purpose of this conference is to provide information on the FAST program; promote additional discussion on this topic; address questions from potential proposers; and provide a forum for potential proposers to present their capabilities for teaming opportunities. PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION: The objective of the FAST program is to develop a revolutionary approach to spacecraft high power generation. This High Power Generation Subsystem (HPGS), when combined with electric propulsion, will form the technological basis for a light weight, high power, high mobility spacecraft platform. The current means to achieve mobility on orbit involves relatively low specific impulse chemical mono- and bipropellants. These stored energy systems require relatively high propellant mass to achieve significant maneuverability. The FAST program will demonstrate the implementation of solar concentrators and high flux solar cells in conjunction with high specific impulse electric propulsion, to produce a lightweight power and propulsion system capable of delivering persistent maneuverability on-orbit. The FAST system can form the basis for a paradigm-shift in spacecraft mission design, enabling an affordable launch to LEO with self-transfer to GEO, while retaining sufficient maneuverability in GEO to perform flexible mission scenarios including numerous sorties. The FAST system is intended to enable responsive on-orbit servicing architectures, on-orbit space situational awareness capabilities, and high power payloads such as communications or radar. The Government envisions a two phase development program with potential for a follow-on program to perform an on-orbit demonstration of the FAST system. Phase 1 will consist of the completion of a detailed prototype design for ground test demonstration, along with a full simulation of the HPGS performance, including solar concentration, power conversion, heat rejection, structure and deployment, along with sun pointing and tracking capability. Phase 2 will include the fabrication, assembly and end-to-end testing of the prototype HPGS in a representative environment. Multiple awards for simultaneous execution of Phase 1 by competing Contractor teams are expected. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Participants must register no later than September 25, 2007 at the following website: https://enstg.com/signup/passthru.cfm?ConferenceCode=FAS38626. The conference code is FAS38626. Directions to the facility and other materials are also available on the website. There is no registration fee for attending this conference. Due to space limitations of the conference facility, attendance will be limited to the first 100 registrants, and no more than TWO representatives per organization. Organizations are strongly encouraged to limit these representatives to no more than one business development person and should include at least one chief engineer or technical lead who can participate in technical discussions. The October 2nd Industry Day conference will be unclassified and open to the general public. All attendees will be required to present government issued photo identification upon entry to the event. Registration is restricted to US citizens and Permanent Resident Aliens only. Proof of Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status (forms found on the registration website) must be provided no later than September 25, 2007. Please fax the US Proof of Citizenship or the DARPA Form 60, Foreign National Visit Request, to: Hugo Castellon, Booz Allen Hamilton, fax +1 (555) 000-0000. Additionally, attendees will be able to present company overviews, discuss their technology expertise, and/or discuss teaming opportunities in an industry only forum. No Government personnel will be present during this time. Upon arrival, the attendees will receive their scheduled time for presenting. The opportunity to present will be afforded on a first come, first served basis. It is the presenter's responsibility to ensure that all proposed sensitive or unclassified material is reviewed prior to being displayed at the conference by the organization that funded the research. Presentations may contain up to 10 slides and are limited to ten (10) minutes. There will be no exceptions to this requirement. Proposers desiring to present at the Industry Day Conference should send an electronic copy of all material to be presented to contact@example.gov as soon as possible, but no later than September 25, 2007. In the event that there is a discrepancy between information posted here and on www.fbo.gov, the FedBizOpps site takes precedence.

Protein Palace Proposers Day
Solicitation # DARPA-SN-27-01
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is initiating the Protein Palace program to develop a universal, tunable protein purification platform. This initiative aims to replace the traditional lock-and-key paradigm with a system capable of purifying multiple proteins from a single system by leveraging unique physicochemical characteristics to improve biomanufacturing specificity, generalizability, and scalability. The program is structured into two distinct phases: a 24-month Phase 1 focused on proving the feasibility of specificity and generalizability by separating eight different proteins, followed by an 18-month Phase 2 focused on scalability and throughput, which requires demonstrating the platform on two additional proteins that are difficult to purify using current state-of-the-art methods. To support this effort, DARPA is hosting an in-person Proposers Day on November 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET at the Executive Conference Center in Arlington, Virginia. This event is unclassified, and all attendees must provide government-issued photo identification. While the current Special Notice DARPA-SN-27-01 and its subsequent amendment serve as information and planning tools rather than a formal solicitation, DARPA anticipates releasing the full solicitation on sam.gov prior to the event. Interested parties must meet the registration deadline of November 9, 2026, to attend the session.
