The Air Force Research Laboratory Propulsion Directorate, Power Division is organizing an Industry Day for the Power and Thermal Technologies for Air and Space – Multimegawatt Electric Power System (PTTAS-MEPS) Program, scheduled for May 13, 2004, at the Hope Hotel Conference Center near Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. The event will include a morning program overview presentation open to all attendees, followed by one-on-one discussions between government representatives and interested firms, which require prior appointments. The program aims to develop and ground-test a power system designed for airborne directed energy weapons, focusing on a superconducting generator with a full demonstration targeted for the end of 2009. The power system also includes a gas turbine drive, to be an existing model, and a power conditioning system based on lightweight aircraft design principles. The government expects to award a single contract valued at approximately $22 million over five years. Due to the involvement of classified information and military critical technical data, attendance at the Industry Day is restricted to U.S. contractors certified by the Defense Logistics Services Center and requires pre-registration with specific documentation, including an approved DD Form 2345. Conference registrants must confirm U.S. citizenship and present photo identification at the event. Scheduling for one-on-one sessions will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis, with confirmation provided via email. For contractual or program inquiries, designated contacts Mary M. Lykins and Gregory L. Rhoads are available respectively to assist interested parties.
