The Department of Transportation's TASC Acquisition Services is set to award a non-competitive contract to Mediamark Research, Inc./NOP World of New York, NY, on behalf of the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS). The contract is intended to support data collection from non-telephone households to enhance existing data gathering efforts and specifically to conduct the 2002 Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Transportation Use and Availability Supplemental Survey. A market survey determined that Mediamark is the only known provider with access to a sample of non-telephone households, which BTS requires for this project. BTS mandates that the sample of non-telephone households be developed using a random, probability-based sampling design that extends down to the individual household and person level. Additionally, the sample must be current, not exceeding two years in age, to ensure data reliability. This specialized sampling approach is critical for gathering representative data to supplement transportation statistics accurately. The solicitation was posted on July 26, 2002, by the Department of Transportation's office in Washington, DC.
