The U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration’s Office of Travel & Tourism Industries is seeking input through a Request for Information (RFI) to evaluate and potentially improve its In-Flight Survey (IFS) program, which gathers data from international air travelers to and from the United States. The survey protects traveler privacy while providing insights into travel patterns used for public policy development and private sector resource management. The RFI invites responses from a broad range of travel industry stakeholders such as airlines, airports, tourism boards, and consultants. Respondents are encouraged to provide innovative and practical ideas on new methodologies for conducting these surveys, enhancing data quality, and maximizing the program’s return on investment. The government is seeking detailed proposals and suggestions, including alternative solutions, through a questionnaire and background document. This RFI is solely for information gathering and planning purposes and does not represent a solicitation for contracts. All responses will be treated confidentially if marked proprietary, and any incurred costs for responding are the responsibility of the interested parties.
