Caltrain Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Tracks, Stations, and Signals Facilities

The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, operating as Caltrain, is seeking a contractor for the rehabilitation and modernization of tracks, stations, and signal facilities across San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties. This project is designed to maintain a state of good repair, enhance system safety, and maximize operational flexibility within existing railroad rights-of-way. The scope of work is comprehensive, encompassing track work such as the replacement of switches, ballast, and ties and the installation of new crossover tracks, as well as civil work involving utility relocation and the modification of drainage, curbs, and sidewalks. Additional key requirements include the modernization of signal systems and the rehabilitation of stations to include ADA compliance upgrades, improved passenger waiting areas, and updated security and communication systems. The project also prioritizes at-grade crossing safety through the installation of quad gates, exit gates, and improved signage. This effort is classified under NAICS code 237990 and is conducted under the Existing Facilities categorical exemption per CEQA Guidelines Section 15301, as the improvements to the transportation infrastructure are expected to result in a negligible increase in transportation-related uses.
