The General Services Administration (GSA) is hosting an eAuthentication Industry Day to engage industry stakeholders in the Federal Government’s eAuthentication initiative, a key component of the government’s broader E-Government program aimed at enhancing service quality and operational efficiency through technology. The initiative seeks to provide a centralized authentication service accessible via the FirstGov.gov portal, facilitating secure and authenticated interactions among citizens, government entities, employees, businesses, and other institutions. It aims to integrate with existing credential management systems and support multiple government lines of business. Currently, the government is developing an Authentication Gateway prototype to validate feasibility, address technical and policy challenges, and gather requirements for a forthcoming competitive solicitation scheduled for early fiscal year 2003. The event is scheduled for June 18, 2002, from 9:00 AM to noon at the Department of Commerce Auditorium in Washington, DC. Attendees must register by June 14, 2002, due to limited seating, and admission requires a name on the registration list along with picture identification. The Industry Day will include opening remarks from Mark Forman and presentations by the eAuthentication Integrated Project Team covering the initiative’s mission, vision, goals, the Authentication Gateway prototype, and the acquisition strategy. This forum provides a valuable opportunity for industry participants to engage directly with the eAuthentication team, ask questions, and offer feedback to help shape the program’s future direction.
