The General Services Administration (GSA) plans to issue a sole source contract to Kana Communications Inc. to extend the standard maintenance and support agreement for an additional year, covering the previously acquired Kana EJB Studio and Kana EJB Service software products used by the Defense Manpower and Data Center in Seaside, California. This contract will be awarded under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 (a)(2)(ii), allowing for non-competitive procurement when only one responsible source is available, and will follow Simplified Acquisition procedures in accordance with FAR Part 13. The solicitation adheres to provisions effective through Federal Acquisition Circular 02-06 and aims to continue seamless support for crucial application development, business management, and system administration software already integrated within the agency’s operations. A justification supporting Other than Full and Open Competition has been prepared, stating that no other suppliers can meet the agency’s needs. While the government intends to negotiate directly with Kana Communications, they invite interested parties to express their interest or submit proposals by the specified deadline, which will be reviewed solely to determine whether a competitive procurement is necessary. Communications regarding this opportunity are to be directed via email to the designated GSA contact. The contract reflects the GSA’s objective to maintain continuity in essential software support while ensuring adherence to federal acquisition policies.
