SBBC is soliciting proposals for a group disability plan and any plan proposed should be on a group contract basis. The RFP addresses two types of disability coverages, Core Option, and “Buy-Up” Option. The proposer should quote on both the Core and Buy-Up options that include the current plan designs and alternative plan design. The planned alternative should include a 180-day elimination period for the Core plan and a Buy-Up plan. SBBC provides the Core disability coverage for all eligible employees paid for by the Board. The employee may elect to “Buy-Up” disability coverage. If an employee elects the “Buy-Up” Option, the employee is responsible, through payroll deductions, to pay for this option. SBBC will contract directly with carriers and companies that provide these services. SBBC will not contract with independent agents or brokers to provide these services and would prefer that the fee/premiums not include additional commissions. All Proposers must be in compliance with all applicable Florida Statutes.
