The City of Milpitas is located in Santa Clara County near the southern tip of San Francisco Bay, 45 miles south of San Francisco with a current population of approximately 82,000. Milpitas is a general law city of the State of California. The city was incorporated in 1954 and operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City's political and legislative body is the City Council and is empowered by the general laws of the State of California to formulate citywide policy, including a fiscal program, City services, and appointment of the City Manager and City Attorney.
