Middle Mile Broadband Network Project: ADF-F17-CD4-UG6; 04-26-6-BB-0549

The Middle Mile Broadband Network Project, identified as ADF-F17-CD4-UG6 (solicitation 04-26-6-BB-0549), involves the installation of approximately 35 linear feet of new underground fiber optic infrastructure. Managed by Caltrans District 4 in coordination with American Dark Fiber, the work is located along State Route 17 in Los Gatos, Santa Clara County, California, specifically between Post Miles 6.539 and 6.541. The scope of work includes open trenching and the installation of 4-inch high-density polyethylene conduit and fiber optic cable. All activities are restricted to existing roadway rights-of-way and previously disturbed transportation corridors, with no expansion beyond these boundaries permitted. Operational requirements mandate that all trenching be conducted according to a traffic control plan, and open trenches must be filled or covered during non-working hours to ensure safety. The project is classified under NAICS code 237130 and was posted on July 2, 2026. Additionally, the project is environmentally exempt under Senate Bill 156, section 21080.51 of the Public Resources Code, as it pertains to Middle Mile Broadband Initiative projects installed underground within a right-of-way.
