The contract extends the period of performance for the incumbent contractor, Bay Area Travel, from April 1, 2009, through June 30, 2009, with an option to further extend for up to three additional months, not exceeding September 30, 2009. This extension is executed under a justification and approval citing 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, indicating that Bay Area Travel is the only responsible source capable of meeting the agency’s requirements for commercial travel services supporting Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) and Camp H.M. Smith. The contract serves as a bridge until the Department of Defense Commercial Travel Office (CTO) Task Order is awarded and implemented, which is scheduled for approximately June 1, 2009. Upon the award and implementation of the CTO Task Order, the current contract may be terminated at the government’s convenience, and the option period would not be exercised. This extension is issued against contract number M00318-06-M-0182 and supports the ongoing commercial travel office functions for MCBH and Camp H.M. Smith. The contracting office managing this agreement is the Regional Contracting Office Hawaii, located in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, with Steven Takasaki serving as the point of contact. The arrangement ensures continuity of travel services during the transition to the new CTO task order while aligning with federal acquisition regulations allowing sole-source extensions when justified. The contract reflects the agency’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted travel support for its personnel until the new system is in place.
