Orland CIMIS Weather Station Installation

The California Department of Water Resources is proposing the installation of a telemetric weather station on irrigated pastureland located at County Road L, one mile north of Orland in Glenn County. The project involves the deployment of an aluminum tripod secured by six 12 inch nails to support sensors measuring solar intensity, precipitation, wind direction, wind speed, air temperature, and relative humidity, with an additional ground temperature sensor buried 6 to 8 inches below the surface. To protect the equipment from livestock, a 16 by 16 foot enclosure consisting of eight cattle panels secured to t-posts will be installed. All work will be performed using hand tools to ensure minimal ground disturbance. The installation is designed to provide real-time weather data accessible via the California Irrigation Management Information System website.
