OUSD Nature Area Improvements: Request For Proposals For Landscape Architecture And Environmental Design Services

The Orinda Union School District is seeking proposals for landscape architecture and environmental design services to preserve and enhance the OUSD Nature Area in Orinda, California. Funded by 1.5 million dollars in state funding, the project aims to create a sustainable, ADA-accessible outdoor educational resource while maintaining the site's ecological value. While originally listed as 65,000 square feet, Addendum No. 1 expanded the project area to approximately 3.48 acres. The scope of work includes conceptual design, site analysis, and the development of construction documents for improvements such as outdoor classrooms, gathering spaces, composting restrooms, habitat restoration, and erosion control. Proposals are due by October 9, 2026, and will be evaluated based on project approach, experience with similar environmentally sensitive sites, personnel qualifications, and cost. The selected consultant must provide a total not-to-exceed basic services fee and adhere to California Labor Code prevailing wage laws. Additionally, the district has a 3 percent participation goal for Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises. The contract is governed by the laws of the State of California and requires the consultant to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and project information. Payment for services will be made on a monthly basis within 45 days of invoice receipt.
