Power the South Bay Project

The Power the South Bay Project involves the installation and operation of 230-kilovolt electrical cables, communication lines, and ground continuity cables embedded within conduits laid through surface trenching and horizontal directional drilling methods. The infrastructure will include a communication handhole and a vault to support system functionality and maintenance access. This project is authorized under a 20-year General Lease – Right-of-Way Use granted by the California State Lands Commission, extending through July 2046, ensuring long-term operational rights for the utility infrastructure across state-owned lands. The project is managed by the California Public Utilities Commission with key oversight from senior environmental and regulatory personnel, and physical work will occur across various locations throughout California. The initiative is designed to enhance regional power reliability and communication network capacity, utilizing advanced underground installation techniques to minimize surface disruption while meeting state and environmental standards.
