This contract notice announces the conclusion of a Streamlined Competition for logistics functions currently performed at Fort Benning and Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, as per the guidelines of the revised OMB Circular A-76 dated May 29, 2003. The Streamlined Competition suggests that private sector performance could be more cost-effective than existing government operations. However, the final decision to transition these services to a contractor is contingent upon receiving offers from the private sector in response to an upcoming solicitation. The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) will conduct a Standard Competition to solicit these offers over a period of approximately six to nine months, during which government employees will continue to perform the logistics functions without interruption. Key officials overseeing this process include Mr. Philip W. Grone, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations and Environment, who serves as the DoD Competitive Sourcing Official, and Dr. Joseph Tafoya, Director of DoDEA, acting as the DoD Component Competitive Sourcing Official. Questions about the competition should be directed to Monica E. Kelliher-Hamby, Chief of the Competitive Sourcing Program Office at DoDEA. Importantly, potential offerors are advised not to contact the Contracting Officer listed in the announcement. The contract solicitation is identified by the number Reference-Number-DoDEA-PN-05-7, falls under NAICS code 561110, and pertains to logistics support services within the Department of Defense Education Activity.
